I spent spring break there with a study-away course—and one moment stuck with me.
Standing on ground that people walked 2,500 years ago…
people who were practicing democracy—arguably better than we are today.
2,500 years.
It reminded me of an old idea: what’s old is new.
We see it in business all the time.
New technology. New tools. New trends.
But the fundamentals don’t change.
The companies that win still:
- Focus relentlessly on the customer
- Get really, really good at something
- Build systems that scale
And then… focus on the customer again.
The tools evolve.
The principles don’t.
