Tighten Loose Screws

I had coffee with a friend this morning.

We sat down.
The table wobbled.
The coffee spilled.

You know the moment.

I looked down at coffee on my pants and said something… not appropriate for LinkedIn.

My friend?

He calmly stood up.
Walked to his car.
Grabbed a screwdriver.
Came back inside.
Crawled under the table.
Tightened the screws.

Problem solved.

No speech.
No complaint.
No manager request.
Just… tighten the screws.

Really?

In business, we love big swings.
New strategy.
New market.
New brand.
Big win.

But sometimes the real leverage isn’t a bold move.

It’s tightening loose screws.

Fix the sloppy onboarding process.
Clarify roles.
Clean up pricing.
Document the workflow.
Improve one KPI.

The table didn’t need a redesign.
It needed four turns of a screwdriver.

Maybe don’t redesign the table…tighten the screws!
